Permaculture Design Certification Course at Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation
I don’t normally post about individual permaculture design courses, but this is a really unique opportunity to get your PDC with an emphasis on Native American practices. The Permaculture Design Certification Course at Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation, South Dakota will be held on September 11-27, 2009:
This will be a very unique and special permaculture course whose implications and effects will go beyond the course itself.
Workshops and events will be offered by tribal members and instructor is Warren Brush, who is versed in indigenous techniques and ways and a passionate and experienced permaculture teacher and practitioner. There are a number of extras offered in addition to the course.
There are a number of exciting sustainable projects ongoing on the rez; come to the course and be a part of this historic activity and beneficial connection which moves far beyond the bounderies of the reservation.
The course will be lead by Warren Brush, a founder of Quail Springs and several other organizations. (He’s also the author of the fascinating article in the May 2009 Permaculture Activist magazine, “Chasing the Bugger-Bug in Liberia”.) And it’s being delivered in cooperation with the Oglala Lakota Cultural & Economic Revitalization Initiative (Olceri), a project to create sustainable, self-sufficient systems as a demonstration and educational site at Pine Ridge reservation.
This is coming up in less than three short weeks, but if you’ve been thinking about getting a PDC, this one sounds fantastic. Tell them Permie.net sent you!
