Community Bikes : A Volunteer Run Collaborative Bike Shop

Here’s another installment for Pedal Power Week on Permie.net, and if you’ve ever been frustrated by bike repairs or the cost of bicycles, you’ll love Community Bikes:

We are a collaborative bike shop run by volunteers. We have mechanics and enthusiasts who will help you fix your bike at our shop. We obtain used bicycles from individuals and various organizations and repair them so they can be used again.

♥ We accept quality donations of all types of bicycles.
♥ We sell refurbished bicycles.
♥ We give informal instruction on how to maintain and repair bicycles.
♥ We have tools to help you fix your own bike.

Please stop by during our open hours and have a look. We adore volunteers and work to promote bicylcing as a viable alternative for everyday transportation.

Community Bikes is open on Thursday evenings 5pm – 8:30pm and on Sunday afternoons 1pm – 4:30pm (and by appointment…(707) 579-5811). They’re located at 4009 Sebastopol Rd, Santa Rosa, CA…east of the Joe Rodota Trail, at the intersection of Sebastopol Road and Wright Road.

Here’s a good article about the shop from the North Bay Bohemian: Pedal to the Mettle: Community Bikes tackles zero emissions one rider at a time. And here’s a recent post listing bikes for sale to give you an idea of what might be available.
